Writing For Pleasure Group
Why not join us in creating a piece of prose or poetry or perhaps writing a play. We are a diverse group of enthusiasts who meet once a month to share our creations and exchange ideas in a friendly atmosphere.
Prose poetry by Linda Simmonds
Watching People
As I gaze at this group we call, “People”
I notice that their biggest member, the capital “P”
Appears to preside over them all, like a patient preacher
Spreading the word to his assembled flock.
This gathered group sit in a line.
At each end of this line, is one of the “e” twins.
They calmly rest there like bookends
Keeping everyone in their place.
I then study the “o”
Whose white centre seems to shine out
Like a full moon all on her own, at one with herself.
Finally, I look at the two, I see as a pair the "p" and the "l".
For the "p" extends downwards grounding the group
Whilst his partner, the “l” rises uplifting them all.
Together they bring balance, and so, this group we call “People”
Includes:
The patient leader
The calm stabilizers
The fulfilled loner
And the pair who work together for the benefit of all.
And they all like all good members
Keep to their word.
